Viretta – Warranty & Safety
Scandinavian Form. Japanese Function.
Tools for years of daily use – and a warranty to match.
In Brief
- 2-year statutory warranty right under German/EU law – always.
- Minimum 5-year Viretta warranty on our core range (pans, pots, knives, wood). Electronics, glass, and wear parts have their own durations (see table).
- Credible lifetime warranty on material and manufacturing defects for selected categories – understood as the functional lifespan of the product with normal household use and correct care (not the owner's lifetime).
Our Promise
- Function & Safety First: Coverage of material and manufacturing defects that impair function or safety.
- EU Safety: This warranty does not restrict your statutory rights (2-year warranty).
- Fair Solution: Repair, replacement, or an equivalent substitute model if your model is no longer available (color/finish may vary).
- Transparent Process: Simple reporting, quick review, and clear justification.
Scope of Application
- Applies to private households in the EU/EEA (+ UK) for products purchased from Viretta or authorized dealers.
- Commercial/professional use is excluded from the lifetime warranty (see separate B2B terms).
What does "normal household use" mean?
- Cooking on approved heat sources within recommended temperatures.
- Cleaning/care according to Viretta care instructions.
- Normal storage without continuous moisture, soaking, extreme temperature shocks, or hard impacts.
Assessment – Examples of typically covered / not covered
Typically covered (examples):
- Manufacturing defects in metal (e.g., delamination, rivet/handle defects, uneven wall thickness, base warping > 3 mm, measured cold on a flat surface, after normal use).
- Enamel production defects (e.g., pinholes, chipping, blistering) not due to thermal shock/overheating.
- Casting defects in cast iron (pores/cavities) that impair function or safety.
- Knives: Blade material/hardening defects, loosening of handle/bolster, adhesive defects.
- Glass lid with production defect (stress fracture without thermal shock).
- Vacuum/pump failure with normal use (motor, electronics, seal) – not wear/misuse.
Not covered (examples):
- Cosmetics/wear: Scratches, scuffs, discoloration/patina, changes in luster, small paint/color chips, minor unevenness without functional impairment.
- Thermal misuse: Overheating, dry boiling, rapid temperature changes (e.g., cold water on a very hot pan).
- Misuse: Metal tools on smooth ceramic coating, cutting bones/frozen food, dropping/impacts.
- Care: Rust on raw iron/carbon steel, drying out/warping of wood, coating wear over time, dishwasher damage where advised against.
- Third-party interference: Unauthorized repairs or modifications.
- Hybrid note: Hybrid (ceramic + raised steel mesh) is designed for metal tools. For maximum lifespan, we still recommend wood/silicone – especially sharp edges/knives should not be used directly on the surface.
Product Categories & Warranty Periods
Core Range – min. 5-year Viretta warranty
- 3-ply stainless steel (uncoated): Lifetime on construction, rivets/handles, and base flatness (warping > 3 mm). Cosmetics not covered.
- 3-ply ceramic non-stick (PFAS-free): 5-year functional warranty against premature coating failure (adhesion/blistering) with correct use/heat management. Normal wear/loss of non-stick properties not covered.
- Hybrid / metal-tolerant non-stick: 5-year functional warranty against premature coating failure with correct use. Cosmetics/wear not covered.
- Carbon steel & raw cast iron: Lifetime on material/manufacturing defects. Rust is considered a care issue.
- Enamelled cast iron: Lifetime on production/material defects (incl. enamel, unless caused by impact/thermal shock/metal tools). Cosmetic changes not covered.
- Kitchen knives (VG-10, SG2, etc.): Lifetime on material/manufacturing defects (hardening, handle, bonding). Sharpness/wear and chips due to misuse not covered.
- Wooden products (cutting boards/tools): 5 years on production defects. Moisture/soaking damage, dishwasher, drying out/warping = not covered.
Other Categories – special durations
- Glass lids & containers (borosilicate): 5 years on production defects. Breakage due to impact/thermal shock not covered.
- Vacuum systems & pumps: 2 years on pump/electronics. Seals are considered wear parts (see below).
- Seals, silicone, O-rings: 12 months on manufacturing defects. Natural wear is considered consumption.
- Accessories (magnets, honing steels, sharpening stones): 2 years on production defects. Sharpening stones/abrasives are wear-and-tear by design – normal abrasion not covered.
The above periods are voluntary Viretta warranties and complement the 2-year statutory warranty.
How to File a Warranty Claim
- Prepare evidence: Order/receipt number, serial/batch number (if relevant).
- Briefly describe the defect: What happened, when does it occur, how is the product used?
- Attach photos/videos: Overall view + detailed shots of the defect (for pans/pots, also the underside).
- Submit via portal: Use our complaint portal (bottom of the website).
- Review & response: Confirmation and feedback with repair, replacement, or substitute model. If approved, we provide a return label (DE/EU).
Discontinued model: We offer a functionally equivalent or better model. Color/surface may vary.
What we may request
- Brief functional test (e.g., boiling water at medium heat), flatness check, or information on temperature habits (to rule out overheating).
- Care information (e.g., seasoning carbon steel, wood oils, cleaning non-stick).
- If necessary, return for inspection (return shipping covered if approved).
Limitations of Liability
- The warranty does not cover indirect damages, loss of use, or consequential damages.
- Viretta's total liability is limited to the original purchase price.
- Nothing in this warranty restricts your mandatory consumer rights in the EU.
Care that Extends Lifespan
- Steel/Hybrid: Low–medium heat; preheat briefly; do not use empty pan on high heat.
- Ceramic Non-stick: Low–medium heat; oil/butter at room temperature; avoid spray oils.
- Carbon Steel/Raw Iron: Season correctly; dry immediately; lightly oil; no soaking with soap.
- Enamel: Avoid metal tools, impacts, and cold shocks; allow pot to cool slightly before adding water.
- Knives: Cut on wood/plastic; no glass/stone; no dishwasher; dry immediately; maintain regularly.
- Wood: Hand wash; dry completely; oil regularly; avoid soaking/heat cabinet.
